Drew Brees on his way to breaking Dan Marino’s passing record.

Dan Marino’s 1984 record of 5,084 passing yards in a season is currently being threatened by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees who has 3,326 yards after 10 games.

If Brees’ continues his current passing streak he is projected to pass for 5,321 yards.  Surpassing Marino by almost 250 yards.

Brees’ passing yardage is the highest after 10 games of season in history. Brees held the previous record of 3,251 yards which he set in 2008. During his record-breaking year, Marino passed for 3,094 yards in his first 10 games.

“I try not to give it much thought,” Brees said. “We would love to have that record, but within the framework of winning games. I certainly try not to think about it. You just try to do whatever it takes to win and if that means we have to throw it three hundred plus yards a game or run it two hundred plus yards a game, we’ll do whatever it takes and we’ll see where the chips fall at the end of the season.”

Search! Hammer Time! MC Hammer takes on Google and Yahoo.

MC Hammer announced his new product WireDoo at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco yesterday. Sadly, you can’t dance to it but you can touch it. Wiredoo is a search engine that focuses on connecting relational items and services to keywords inputted by users.

Searching for a word will bring up topics and business services related to that word. WireDoo is still being built and not available to the public yet.

As for Mr Hammer taking on corporate giants like Yahoo and Google we can only wait and see if Hammer will hurt ‘em.

Killer Cantaloupes – Listeria outbreak leaves 16 people dead.

Health officials say as many as 16 people have died from possible listeria illnesses traced to Colorado cantaloupes, the deadliest food outbreak in more than a decade.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday that 72 illnesses, including 13 deaths, are linked to the tainted fruit. State and local officials say they are investigating three additional deaths that may be connected.

The death toll released by the CDC Tuesday — including newly confirmed deaths in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Texas — surpassed the number of deaths linked to an outbreak of salmonella in peanuts almost three years ago. Nine people died in that outbreak.

Listeria generally only sickens the elderly, pregnant women and others with compromised immune systems. The CDC said the median age of those sickened is 78 and that one in five who contract the disease can die.
