Drew Brees on his way to breaking Dan Marino’s passing record.

Dan Marino’s 1984 record of 5,084 passing yards in a season is currently being threatened by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees who has 3,326 yards after 10 games.

If Brees’ continues his current passing streak he is projected to pass for 5,321 yards.  Surpassing Marino by almost 250 yards.

Brees’ passing yardage is the highest after 10 games of season in history. Brees held the previous record of 3,251 yards which he set in 2008. During his record-breaking year, Marino passed for 3,094 yards in his first 10 games.

“I try not to give it much thought,” Brees said. “We would love to have that record, but within the framework of winning games. I certainly try not to think about it. You just try to do whatever it takes to win and if that means we have to throw it three hundred plus yards a game or run it two hundred plus yards a game, we’ll do whatever it takes and we’ll see where the chips fall at the end of the season.”
